Marissa

I have known Marissa since she was in middle school! Boy oh boy has she grown in to a beautiful young woman! Marissa is graduating high school in May, and then she’s heading off to some school somewhere for swimming- I’m crossing my fingers it’s NYC Another excuse to head that way. She’s an amazing swimmer, even lead her team to state a couple of years ago.

Anna

Anna is the editor of her yearbook, and so I had a lot to live up to! After our shoot in the WestBottoms, she showed me the past yearbooks and WOW! This girl has talent and she is going to go so far in life! I can’t wait to see the final yearbook and all of the beautiful photos she is going to be adding to it.

Twins!!

Oh, I love twins. In case you didn’t know- I am a twin! I have this very weird thing with them… and I’m very jealous of Bethany and her 3 month old girls, Evangeline (Evan) and Charlotte (Charlie)! Bethany is my step sister, and she had twins back in June, and I was so happy to be able to photograph them a couple of weeks ago. They are adorable, and even peed on Beth during the photoshoot. Good thing it was the last set we were doing so she could go change her pants.

Out of town… well, country!

Hello!!

I am traveling around Europe right now with the hope of learning a lot about the French language and culture, while also taking many photographs along the way. With that said, I will be unable to take your portraits until I return to the States in the middle of June. Sweet happiness

Meet Rob and Kathryn. I met Rob when I was on Good Morning America for High School Confidential. He occasionally does interviews for GMA, but primarily works for ESPN. While he was not the person interviewing me, we talked in the make-up room and found out we both spoke a little French (sadly, he’s probably better at it than me!). I found him on facebook, and we’ve kept in touch ever since. Then, one day I received a call from him saying “Cate, my wife and I…” and I finished his sentence… “OMG! She’s pregnant!” I was SO happy for the two of them!
For the month of January I was supposed to be in NYC, but due to an internship that fell though, I had to remain in KC. I was disappointed because Rob and Kathryn asked me to photograph her baby… mountain! But then things fell in to place and a NYC visit still got (gets!) to happen… so on Saturday we took some photos of Kathryn (2 weeks for baby due date!) and Rob. SO much fun, and they are so happy!!
Thank Rob and Kathryn for letting me photograph this incredibly happy and beautiful time in your lives!

Mary + Bill

Oh. My. Gosh. When I get married I want a wedding just like this! (I should probably get a boyfriend first, no? hehe). It was held at South Park in Lawrence (a block from my house!!!). The wedding was PERFECT. The lighting was PERFECT. It was small, but not too small. Mary’s dress was brown… and it had pockets! She was just SO happy… as was Bill! And you know what the best part of the wedding was (other than the love!)? The SUNFLOWERS! Everywhere! Even the cake had sunflowers! Absolutely beautiful. And, only in Lawrence, but the newly married couple was carted away to the reception at Liberty Hall in a bench attached to a bike. And there were bagpipers… and the entire wedding party walked being the bride + groom to the reception. All of traffic was blocked! Quite a site!

Paige, Joseph, Maury, Emmy, Jeanna, and Mauricio

I was lucky enough to photograph these cuties a couple summers ago when my friend, Meg, was their nanny! Now they’re all grown up… and I can’t believe it! We even got to include mom and dad this time! It was so fun skipping rocks… I even got to join in the fun! Mauricio, however, is the rock skipping master. I think I’ll stick to the camera…

Mel + Mick

She lives here. He lives there. There, by the way, is in England. The most beautiful thing I heard while photographing this beautiful couple is, “If it’s possible to fall in love over the phone… we’ve done it.” So beautiful… and so much love was exuded from these two! Mick works with railroads, which is what brought him to KS which then brought them together!

Elise + mom + dad

This is a new family in town! Before Miss Elise was born, the dogs were the center of their parents world… and now this cutie patootie has stolen the show! She sure knows what to do in front of a camera, too!
